You
may apply for you marriage license between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30
p.m. If it is impossible for you to be here during normal
hours please call our office to make an appointment.
You may
obtain a marriage license in the office of the Clerk of the
Circuit Court, in the Courthouse. There is no waiting
period necessary between the issuance of the license and the
marriage ceremony. You may take the license to the person
who is to perform your marriage ceremony, or the Clerk can marry
you.
Indiana
residents must obtain a license in the county in which one of
them reside. Out of state residents must obtain a marriage
license in the county in which the marriage will be performed.
Except as
otherwise provided, you must be at least eighteen (18) years of
age. A certified copy of your Birth Certificate, a valid
driver's license, a state I.D. or a military I.D. must be
presented for proof of age.
For
residents of Indiana, the cost is $18.00 cash. For
non-residents the cost is $60.00 cash. When applying for your
marriage license both parties must be present.
The marriage license expires sixty (60) days after it is
issued. If the license expires you must re-apply for a new
marriage license.
